Everyone is taught "time-saving" devices that have "worked" for years. They want everyone on an equal playing field, so it's easy to compare, critique, and feel completely unbiased. I think starchitecture branding is...Excellent post. I think starchitecture branding is some kind of defense mechanism. It stifles their personal work and the emergence of new work from new talents. Also, architecture as a form of culture seems to be tremendously misunderstood. For instance, Gehry is only allowed to produce a "Gehry."
