You know, weirdly I was just on his site reading that 'eyesore' business yesterday [I started listening to 'Kunstlercast', his podcast, recently]. I'm kind of a semi Kunstler fan, but I think we need to realize he's a little bit of a clown. His vitriolic criticism of the suburbs and sprawl is justified, but his ideas of urbanism aren't great/interesting/revolutionary. Cities can't all be Seaside [and ugh, eww, they shouldn't be in the first place - Truman Show here I come], and the suburbs can't be ignored. Basically, he comes off as a ranter [if that's a word...one who rants].
I listen to the Kunstlercast when I can stomach small thinking about urban design. I heard the tattoo episode and, well, my guess is that his father was either "a cannibal, a sailor, or a whore."
That's the only reasonable justification I can think of for this particular screed from a man whose podcast otherwise shows him at times to be a male chauvinist, an elitist, and quite possibly a racist.
It's also worth pointing out that it's not really JHK's podcast. It's sort of the pet project of a groupie/journalist/tool who likes to tie Kunstler's shoes for him.
That's what I need! I'm now officially accepting resumes for a groupie/journalist/tool who will promotes me, creates a tv show about my extraordinary exploits, maybe even takes my cats for walks...

Yeah. He's been on a crusade against tattoos. Totally out of left field.
I guess everyone's entitled to their anachronisms. I was just totally caught off guard by his vehemence.
